A highly referred to practice in modern life is Mindful Meditation. Over recent times, ‘mindfulness’ has become the latest buzz word, with many sources saying everyone should be practicing it. So, how do we do this and what are the benefits?
To start with a definition may be helpful - Mindfulness can be described as ‘maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens’.
To practice mindfulness, the key is to simply become aware of, and consciously notice, what is happening in the body and mind, without trying to change it. It is about cultivating an attitude of unconditional presence in the moment and accepting whatever is happening.
Originating from the Buddhist tradition of Vipassana Meditation, it will often be incorporated into Yoga practice and teachings. For those attending yoga classes, you may have already been exposed to this type of mediation method. For everyone else, there are some helpful resources for you to access through YouTube, Podcasts, the free Insight Timer app, plus Source of Spirit online.

And being mindful of the ethos here at Reflex 2 Health is that ‘Nurturing yourself is not selfish, it’s essential to your health and wellbeing’. Whether you practice this through reflexology therapy or not, remember to allow any time spent meditating to become a precious gift of non-judgmental existence in your day. We could all use a little of that.
